What the show rules say, and how exhibitors set it up.

What NABโ€™s rules say

NAB Show New York lists the Javits Center as its exclusive provider of internet and telecommunications. Its rules make exhibitors follow FCC rules for wireless transmitters; one that interferes must be turned off if it isnโ€™t licensed, or turned down if it is. Get NAB Exhibit Servicesโ€™ OK in writing before you bring MRยทNET.

Set it up wired

Once NAB approves, switch MRยทNETโ€™s Wi-Fi off and plug encoders, demo laptops and screens into its four Ethernet ports. Live IP video and cloud demos then run on one bonded Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile connection.

Blocking and jamming are illegal

The FCC says no convention center or its network operator may intentionally block or disrupt personal Wi-Fi hot spots, and federal law bans jamming Wi-Fi or cellular signals. A showโ€™s own rules are a separate, contractual matter.
