Got a question?
We've got answers.
Can MR·NET work on a moving bus or coach?
Yes. MR·NET has provided onboard passenger Wi-Fi for FlixBus coaches. In a moving vehicle the gateway keeps Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile active at the same time and shifts traffic between them as coverage changes along the route.
How is bonded cellular different from a regular vehicle router?
A regular vehicle router uses one SIM, or switches to a second one after the first fails. Bonding uses all connections at the same time and combines them into one, so a drop on one network doesn't drop the connection.
What happens when one network drops on the route?
The gateway keeps all three carriers connected at the same time. If one network drops or slows down, traffic moves to the other two without interrupting sessions, so passengers and onboard systems stay online. Nobody on board has to do anything.
Does bonding give a busy bus more bandwidth?
Yes. Bonding combines the capacity of all active connections into one, so a full coach isn't limited to what a single carrier can deliver at that spot. Actual speeds depend on coverage along the route.
Is it hard to install?
No. Each gateway arrives pre-configured for your vehicles and onboard equipment, so there's nothing to set up on the road. On the call we recommend antennas and installation for your vehicle types.
Which vehicles and onboard systems does it support?
Buses, motorcoaches, shuttles, paratransit and service vehicles. Rail and ferry projects are scoped case by case. The gateway connects to onboard Wi-Fi access points, cameras, fare validators, passenger information displays and telematics over Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
Can we manage the whole fleet from one place?
Yes. Every gateway appears in the MR·NET cloud portal, where you can check status and data use and get remote access. Our US-based support team monitors the service and often fixes issues before your staff notices them.
How much data does a vehicle use?
It depends on riders, routes and what runs on board, which is why transportation setups are quoted individually. We size data plans to your fleet on the call, and you can see each vehicle's usage in the portal.
Does it work outside the US?
MR·NET works out of the box in the US and Canada. For routes in other regions, contact sales@mrnet.us about international options.
How do we get pricing?
Request a call or send the form on our contact page. Tell us about your vehicles, routes and onboard equipment, and we'll recommend a setup and send a quote, usually within one business day.
