Bring MR·NET to the Los Angeles Convention Center
Wired, with its Wi-Fi off.
What the rules cover, and how exhibitors set it up.
What the documents say
Boldyn’s ordering guide says a personal hotspot will work in the building and names no ban or fee. Shows can be stricter: ViVE 2026 at the LACC said “The use of external/outside routers is strictly prohibited,” which covers a cellular router like MR·NET.
Set it up wired
Switch MR·NET’s Wi-Fi off and plug laptops, POS terminals and screens into its four Ethernet ports. You add no Wi-Fi or access point to the hall and never touch Boldyn’s network.
Federal law protects you
The FCC says no convention center or its network operator may intentionally block or disrupt personal Wi-Fi hot spots, and jamming Wi-Fi or cellular signals is illegal.
What you’d save at the Los Angeles Convention Center
Own it once, use it at every show.
Compared with a 10 Mbps dedicated line at the Los Angeles Convention Center at Boldyn’s Early rate ($7,065, Boldyn LACC Exhibitor Ordering Guide, 2025). Data: 25 GB a show day (our customers use 10 to 40 GB) for a 3-day show at $8/GB. Excludes shipping and tax.
Before the show
Five things to do.
Need a venue line too? Order with payment 30 days before move-in for Boldyn’s Early rate.
Pay in full before move-in starts; unpaid services aren’t installed and add labor charges.
Pack a switch and Ethernet cables for your booth devices.
Run MR·NET with Wi-Fi off and test it at your office first.
Check your show’s rules: ViVE 2026 banned outside routers at the LACC.
Questions exhibitors ask
About the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Who provides internet at the Los Angeles Convention Center?
Boldyn Networks. The LACC says Boldyn is “the exclusive provider of internet and telecommunications services” at the center. Order at go.boldyn.com/LAorders, call 213-765-4647 or email internetsales@boldyn.com. Older exhibitor kits may name Smart City Networks, which listed the LACC among its venues in March 2024 but not in October 2026.
Does the Los Angeles Convention Center have free Wi-Fi?
Yes, in common areas and meeting rooms. Boldyn’s flyer says LACC Free WiFi runs at 1.5 Mbps for a day per sign-in with an email address, and paid LACC Premium WiFi covers the whole building from $49.99 per device for a day at 5 Mb. Boldyn’s guide says exhibit halls get no free Wi-Fi unless the show’s license provides it, so plan your booth’s connection separately.
How much does internet cost at the Los Angeles Convention Center?
At Boldyn’s Early rate, Light Wired shared internet is $895 and dedicated lines run from $3,495 for 5 Mbps to $27,180 for 40 Mbps, with 10 Mbps at $7,065. Booth access points cost $2,339 to $39,050, and Premium WiFi is $49.99 per device for a day. Later orders pay more: 10 Mbps is $8,831 at the Standard rate and $10,598 at Last Call.
When should I order internet at the Los Angeles Convention Center?
Order with payment at least 30 days before move-in for the Early rate. Orders 30 to 7 days out pay the Standard rate, and orders 6 days or less before move-in pay Last Call. Boldyn installs nothing until it’s paid in full, orders unpaid by the first move-in day add labor charges, and written cancellations cost a 10% fee plus any costs already incurred.
Can I bring my own internet to the Los Angeles Convention Center?
Yes, unless your show forbids it. Boldyn’s ordering guide says a personal hotspot will work in the building, though crowds can make it unreliable, and names no ban or fee. Shows set their own rules: ViVE 2026 at the LACC strictly prohibited outside routers, which covers a cellular router like MR·NET. Check your show’s manual; where it allows one, run MR·NET with its Wi-Fi off and devices on Ethernet.
Can the venue block or jam my hotspot or cellular gateway?
No. The FCC’s Enforcement Bureau says no convention center or network operator providing service there may intentionally block or disrupt personal Wi-Fi hot spots, and federal law prohibits jamming Wi-Fi or cellular signals. The FCC has fined a convention center internet provider $750,000 and a hotel operator $600,000 for blocking hotspots. If you suspect blocking, file a complaint at fcc.gov/complaints. This is not legal advice.
Is the Los Angeles Convention Center open during its expansion?
Yes. A $2.6 billion expansion and modernization broke ground on October 1, 2025, and Populous, the project’s architect, said the LACC will remain fully operational throughout, with substantial completion by spring 2028 and final delivery by spring 2029.
Can I use a router on venue internet at the Los Angeles Convention Center?
Only on a dedicated line. Boldyn’s guide says routers are not permitted on Light Wired service and will not work, because incorrectly installed routers on a shared network can cause problems for other users. Dedicated lines allow wireless and hardline routers.
